The Beginning - the VERY Beginning - of SWLA's relationship with Cuz Raoul

Cuz Raoul first came to this place during the Jurassic Period - about 150 million years ago. We were still underwater, but a little water means nothing to an energy being like Cuz Raoul. He can pass through water like a hot knife through butter.

Previously, the Western Seaway had covered most of North America, but it was starting to dry up leaving our beloved Gulf of Mexico to start forming. You may think that he had nothing to do at this time, but you'd be wrong.

Our good buddy had many adventures during this time. One of his favorite activities was riding a pre-historic whale called the Ichthyotitan. This was no easy feat as they were about the size of a basketball court! But no worries, Raoul would just jump on and hang on to those 85 feet like a crazy person riding an alligator.

During this time, the choupique were first developing. Yes, that choupique! The namesake of our beloved bayou that runs down in Carlyss near Mud Lake. Now while some consider this a trash fish, ol' Raoul considered them friends. There is nothing quite like traveling the deep with these primitive fish.

While our friend loved his time in the prehistoric sea over Southwest Louisiana, what he really wants to talk about is his time when the sea retreated, and humans inhabited Southwest Louisiana.

Dear Reader, maybe one day I will be permitted to explore more of this time, but for now, I am compelled to write about Cuz Raoul's time with humans - when he first became viewed as a god.
